France announces the dispatch of the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier to the Middle East

French President Emmanuel Macron announced today, Thursday, the dispatch of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle from January to April to support the operations of the French army in the Middle East.

The killing of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps, in a US raid in Iraq last Friday, escalated tension in the Middle East sharply.

International concern about the security situation in Iraq and the region escalated after the killing of Soleimani, prompting several Western countries to warn their citizens against traveling to Iraq
