“The Iraqi government is investigating,” she said on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in an exclusive interview with the official IRNA news agency.
“The investigation is continuing and I cannot comment on it,” the head of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said.
Asked about her assessment as a special representative of the United Nations to the statements of some US officials that ISIS has become a serious threat, she replied: “ISIS does not control any area in Iraq, but the members of this terrorist organization are disguised in some areas.”
She added, “ISIS is carrying out some clandestine activities. We should not underestimate this and we must maintain our awareness of this.”
Speaking about the meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in New York, she said, “My talks with the Iranian foreign minister were very important, we discussed the crisis in the region and its impact on the stability and peace of Iraq and its neighbors, these countries have extensive historical relations.”
