Sailors Continue to Aid with Recovery Efforts

According to the Telegraph newspaper that the race to rescue the remaining survivors of a series of deadly earthquakes in southern Japan continued on Monday, with 11 people still missing and the death toll rising to 42.

The Kumamoto region of Japan’s southern Kyushu Island was first hit last Thursday by a major tremor claiming nine lives which proved to be a foreshock to a bigger 7.3 magnitude earthquake striking early on Saturday, killing a further 33.

The newspaper added that the United States military was due to join the relief efforts of 30,000-plus Japanese rescue workers who were rushing to provide food, water and shelter for tens of thousands of displaced residents.
